Working in nursing can provide you with a fulfilling and stable career. Becoming a nurse later in life is becoming more and more popular. Not everybody enters nursing straight after completing their education. Prior to working as a nurse you will need to complete the pre registration course. Lots of courses are available throughout Great Britain and there are no set minimum requirements for entry. The degree course entry requirements vary from institution to institution. Often most diploma courses require you to have passed five GCSE’s with passes in a science subject as well as either English literature or language. Nursing degree courses also often require candidates to have passed two A Levels.
When considering a change of career and working as a nurse you should bear in mind that good literacy and numeracy skills are essential. Nurses are required to possess good communication skills as the job means talking and communicating with a wide range of people. Observation skills are another key trait you must have; nurses are often left to monitor a patient’s condition, reporting back to doctors.
