Chicago White Sox – One Of The Oldest Teams
The Chicago White Sox are a baseball team located in Chicago, Illinois. They were constituted in the year1901. The White Sox are one of the two teams which are based in Chicago. During the last two decades, they won the world series in 1906 and 1917. The Chicago White Sox won the world series in 2005 when they played in Houston Astros and beat them in four games. The Chicago White Sox are commonly referred to as “The South Siders”.
Seeing as the team has been around for quite some time, the Chicago White Sox have had a number of changes in their uniform. The Chicago White Sox were known as the first team in sporting history that put their player names on the back of their jersey. The Chicago White Sox have had a famous logo since 1912. The logo compromises for the word SOX in a diagonal layout. All three letters are intertwined.
The initial team colors for the Chicago White Sox in 1964 was black, which later was changed to navy blue. The away uniform worn by the Chicago White Sox went from gray to pale blue. The colors of the uniform changed once again in 1976 to red and black.
Additionally the teams “SOX” logo was changed to a modern-looking “SOX” in a bold font, with “CHICAGO” written across the jersey. The teams new uniform also had collars and were designed to be worn un-tucked. They had the option to wear shorts, which they did for the first game of a doubleheader against the Kansas City Royals in 1976. After being humiliated by the fans, the White Sox went to wearing pants.
The new owners of the Chicago White Sox that took over in 1981 came up with a plan to get the fans themselves to design the team’s uniform. The owners; Jerry Reinsfdorf and Eddie Einhorn felt this was a great way to get the fans involved into the team.
The new design that was chosen from a fans design had the word Sox written across the front area of the jersey. After a number of changes, it took another five years before the Chicago White Sox stuck to a permanent kit design. This design had the words “White Sox” across the front of the jersey.
Due to the high demand of uniforms of the Chicago White Sox, most of the old designs are still currently available on their official website. Seeing as some fans preferred certain uniform designs over the other, it allows many the ability to choose which uniform they would like to buy. The good thing about buying your uniform from their official website is that you are provided with the option of having your name printed on the back of the official White Sox shirt.
