Ulcer is nothing but a sore which is shaped like a crater with a diameter of one fourth of an inch. It is also known as stomach ulcer or peptic ulcer as it develops inside the stomach. Tissue damage because of an imbalance between the mucous layer of the stomach, gastric acid and pepsin causes the ulcer. The imbalance can be in turn due to foreign bacteria which could have entered the stomach or because of the regular intake of anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin or ibuprofen.
